Wow...time sure flies! I've haven't written in here because I've been so incredibly busy with so many things going on.

I sent off my portoflio that I've been working on...just awaiting the results. (Keep your fingers crossed)

Got more wedding stuff done...I have plenty of time but this is hopefully going to eliminate some stress.

First semester of school is over...one more to go!

Overall life is going pretty well!

Surprises!

I went to my portfolio training class, kinda dreading it, but when I got there, I found it very useful and helpful! And I even got a stipend for going - they paid me $50 to sit at a computer and listen to someone for an hour and a half (they even provided snacks!)

Found out another student of mine is preggers, that makes 3...and it's only November. 4 more teaching days until Thanksgiving Break - a 5 day weekend! (Wednesday - Sunday)

Wish some other things were a little different. Don't wanna go into details, but yeah - difficult times are upon us.

Rough Draft of portfolio is done. And actually proof-read. I just need to collect everything and make adjustments. I"m also going to portfolio training next wednesday after school so that should be fun. Just glad to have it done for the most part and posted for sure by thanksgiving.

Today afterschool I went wedding dress shopping! And I found the most perfect dress at a really good price. The third dress I tried on was the dress and I bought it! It comes in January 5th - but it fit perfectly and looks great and I love it. Plus it was in my price range and on sale! Gotta love that!

Well...

I am definately glad the election 2008 is finally over! My goodness gracious. Being able to watch the news in the morning without politcal ads is great...of course there was still plenty of politics lol. I will say two things:
1. I really enjoyed being able to explain the complete election process and electoral voting process to my students. That was neat.
2. Kids were nuts today! Goodness - I have a headache from the day. I don't want to type what all was said and such - but i hope it calms down some!

That being said - I'm off to begin working on my portfolio so that I can be done! I have to type up 3 papers still but that's not too bad - then have them all proof read, do the revisions and turn it in. I anticipate and plan to have it done before Thanksgiving.

...I'm nervous...

Well, Sunday I went to get my eyes tested for the first time ever (except at the BMV but according to the doctor who checked my eyes...that doesn't count). We can all thank Brion for making me go, lol. Honestly, I really didn't want to go for a few reasons 1. I really didn't want glasses; 2. I hate eye drops; 3. I didn't know what to expect But all in all, it wasn't that bad...besides the 4 puffs of air because I move too much and the 4 eye drops to take away my ability to focus and dialation. Overall outcome...I have 20/20 vision but things are a little blurry and I can't seem to focus easily...I should technically wear some glasses but it was such a small perscription that the doctor let me decide if I even wanted them...so I said no! Yea! I have to go back in 2 years though.

Today I conquered a fear of mine...giving blood. I've never given blood even though I've made about 5 attempts, I just never go through with it. But, with Brion by my side I did it! I've always wanted to do it since my Grandpa had to have 3 emergency blood transfusions. The really nice nurse even let Brion sit on the couch next to my table and hold my hand. Funny thing - the average person donates a pint in about 30 minutes, my sister takes about 1 hour...it only took me...a grand total of 7.5 minutes! Lol, it just flowed right out. Overall, not a bad experience. I would do it again.

Chuggin right along!

Well today I finished the final lesson of my portfolio!!!!!! Only thing is, that was the easy part. Lol, the 2 hard parts were the coming up with the entire contiguous unit of 5 lesson plans and doing all the reflective and informational writing. So only thing left is all the wrting! I can't turn it in until November 1 anyway so I'm ahead of the game for sure. Most people don't even start theirs until after Christmas. I just can't wait to be done with it and to turn it in!!!!!

I'm not going to do it...

I'm so incredibly sick and tired of hearing that statement. School this year has started yet another new policy in the middle of the school year. Students are now required to wear a lanyard with their student ID card around their neck all day during the school day...you would think we're committing murder! Lol. Yeah, I may not agree with the rule (make them wear them at lunch or something only) but I have to follow it. Not only that but there aren't any consequences set forth for failing to wear one. So...I asked permission and I have made it a temporary class rule - no lanyard = 30 minutes detetion. I'm tired of dealing with it already and it's only been 2 days! Oh, and I think I'm the only teacher enforcing the rule, lol.

Oh and how ridicously hard is it to wear safety goggles? I mean seriously, I need to record my self saying "Guys, put your goggles on your eyes, not on your neck, not on your forhead, and not on the lab table!" How hard is that? Yeah they're funny looking but get over it! I had to in school and so does everyone else!!!!

On that note, I am also tired of saying, "you need to put another shirt on (or you'll be flashing everyone) and you need to pull your pants up (or you'll be mooning everyone" oh, and just for the record, "I'm wearing shorts" isn't going to change the fact that your pants are below your butt!

On a positive note, lol, I'm going to J. Alexanders for dinner tonight on date night, lol. And I get to go to Holiday World tomorrow. So I guess I'm free from saying the aforementioned things for 2.5 days...thank God because I may loose my sanity.

Missing someone!

This week has not been great...I'm so glad it's Sunday so we get to start the week over again! I had a few 'conflicts' of drama at work, which is a first and I hated every second! We talked about it, and we're good. Also Brion and I had some stuff to talk about and we did. Speaking of Brion...I miss him! He's had to work <ALL weekend! He worked Friday until 4 am; went back at 10:30 Saturday and worked til 5 (he left so that we could hang out) and almost had to go back at 11:00 pm; and went in today at 9:00 am and is still ther (it's currently 8:45). I met him over there at 5 with dinner after going to a house warming party. I really do miss him...the weekend is not the same without him.

Despite missing Brion, I have been busy! I stayed home Friday night (instead of going to the Homecoming game) to work on school stuff. I worked on school stuff Friday night and all day saturday. I even did some work this morning. I planned Chem 1 and Honors til Fall Break and Chem 2 until Thanksgiving, lol. But I'm good. All this planning is good since I will be starting my portfolio tomorrow. I'll let you know how that goes!

Well, I'm off to get a few things done before bed...I just hope I get to talk to Brion on the phone before bed...but I have no idea how late he'll be at work...I guess till all the work is done.

Sunday, September 21, 2008

Well today was fun! lol We went to see my grandparents and tell them the news! They were excited. Then we did our book study and just talked for a while before going to dinner with Andy and Ann Brahmer (sp?). Andy is going to be officating our wedding ceremony and Ann is his wife. Andy and Ann are close friends with Brion so that's really neat. I'm trying to get to know them more so that I'm more comfortable with him/her.

I was a littel nervouse going into dinner...but I like them alot! Andy is really nice and Ann is super duper sweet! I think she's even going to help with some of the planning which is great! I'm realyl excited! Lol

Well, I have to go back to work tomorrow so I'm going to need to get some stuff done.

Engagement and Weddings!!!!!!

Well, Brion finally asked me to marry him! It's been a bumpy road for us but I think it was just some speed bumps, lol. I know some of you have been asking me how he asked so I'll let you know:
On Sunday Brion and my dad went to play a round of golf...I stayed home because I didn't feel like going. Brion asked my dad's permission to marry me and he got my dad's approval! So, when dad got home he pulled me aside and asked when i was getting maried. I told him I wasn't sure because Brion would have to ask him then me...then dad said, "oh...well he asked me, it's ok, just act suprised!" Lol. It was funny. So on Sunday Brion picked me up and he took me to Bearnos then we were going to find something to do until we noticed the horrible wind storm. We then went to his house to take cover and just hang out. We have been going through a premarital study so we did our chapter in the book, then Brion took my book over to the desk came back to the couch where I was snuggled up with pillows and blankets and got on one knee and asked me to marry him! I then took about 2 minutes to "think" about it...then responded with a yes!

So we picked a date this week and a place. We plan to hold our ceremony and reception outside at Community Park on Saturday, June 20, 2009. The time is still unofficial. I even went today to book the shelter house because there was only 2 dates in June open! We did some shopping around and price comparrision and we got a GREAT deal!

Ultimately I'm not looking forward to all the planning stuff...it seems fun now, but I don't think it'll work out to well for me. I want a super simple, classic outdoor wedding so it shouldn't be too bad. I don't anticipate doing any more planning until after Christmas so yeah...lol.

Oh...I do need to find a photographer. I know they book up fast in June. I don't want to spend a lot though. Any suggestions? I have a few ideas but I'm open to ideas!

School Musings

School is crazy. Let's just say that. Late start Wednesdays...well...suck! I dunno. This school year is so incredibly different. With 3 preps I feel like I never get anything done and that nothing is planned. Also we have less prep time and everything (seemingly) has changed. I mean like going from blocks to 7 period dayll, late start wednesday, construction, etc. I dunno. Oh and to top it all off I get to do a portfolio this year which will determine if I get to keep my teaching license or not. Fun fun fun!

Fun, Fun, Fun!

Friday after an exhausting week back at work, Brion took me on a dinner dance cruise on the Belle of Louisville. It was different but fun! I think I was the youngest person there without a parent, lol. But it was fun and neat and different.

Saturday we went to Texas Roadhouse, the church, then went to Paul and Betsie's house for dessert, strawberry shortcake! Brion got off work early so that was possible to do all of that.

Today Brion suprised me with a picnic! It was really cute. He got us some chicken from Lee's, a picnic blanket and basket, sparkling grape juice with wine glasses, lol, and chocolate covered strawberries! He also remembered my favorite flowers and suprised me with those too! It was really sweet! Then we packed everything up, took the leftovers home, went to Family Christian, the mall and then Walmart. After that we met up with my parents for an exciting game of golf...I actually thought I was going to have a weekend off from golf, but I guess I was wrong.

Well, that was my weekend, I'm off to bed.

Weekend Stuff

This was my last free wekend before going back to work...dun..dun..duunnn! Lol. Friday night Brion and I went to play 9 holes of golf at Wooden View which was fun. Then we went to eat at Wendy's! Saturday Lynn, Brion and I went to church at Northside then went to eat at Logan's. We, well Brion, then got coffee at Coffe Crossing. Then we drove around because we couldn't find anything to do, lol. I hope we didn't bore Lynn! (Sorry if we did Lynn!)

Today Brion, my dad, and I went to play the front 9 holes at Wooden View. It was ok. lol. It was hot and I forgot to eat before so I was a little hungry and grumpy. Afterwards Brion and I ordered some pizza, ate, hung out, went to Target and then Kroger.

Now I'm home doing laundry for tomorrow. Brion is meeting me at 6:30 to unload all my stuff since we weren't allowed in the building all summer. He's so awesome! lol!

Helping a Friend!

One of my friends, Delaina, was moving yesterday so I went to help her pack at 8 am! Anywho I helped her pack until about 10:30 then I came home to get cleaned up and go pick up Lynn! We went to Famous Dave's and it was really good. Then we went to Walmart and I picked up a few things for school...it was actually fun! Then I came home and got some school stuff done and ate dinner. Then Delaina called and needed some help loading up the U-Haul and unloading it so I went along. Once we got to her new house we were unloading the truck and we came to her bed. I just so happened to be in the truck when it became available so I helped move it! Not a great idea! Anywho as I was moving it and manuvering it around all the walls, I ran into a problem...I was walking backwards into her new room and ran into the other bed stuff as I did I lost balance but quickly regained it when John (on the other end of the bed) was still pushing it toward me...my face broke the fall! Well actually my face was pushed into a big wooden knob! Anywho there is a pic on facebook of my face...all bruised up. It hurts and is swollen but I'm doing ok! Lol

As summer fades away...

Summer vacation is quickly fading away. School will be back in session before we know it. Well that's if the school is ready to have people inside! Lol. I'm ready to go back though...I"m ready to have a routine again. Don't get me wrong I have loved summer vacation! Doing what I want, when I want to, sleeping in, taking naps, staying up late! I love it...BUT I am ready to go back to work!

Past few days...

This weekend was a lot of fun! Friday morning my dad and I went out to play a round of golf and then Friday night Brion and I went to Max and Ermas, played putt-putt, the got ice cream at Baskin Robbins! Saturday night we got pizza at Tony Boom-Bazz then saw 'Step Brothers'. It was hillarious, lots of language but hilarious! Sunday we went shopping! Like all day, lol. We went up to the outlet malls in Edinburg and then went to the Greenwood Park Mall. The Mall had all my favorite usual stores instead of driving around Louisville. Let's just say I think I accomplished a years worth of shopping for about $200. Which isn't too shabby!

Yesterday I did some online shopping since I needed a pair of khakis for school. I orded them online from Old Navy along with another pair of pants that were only $10. It was neat. I also stocked up on my favorite undershirts while on the website so I don't have to go to the store and dig through the pile for my size and colors.

Last night I made a trip out to Dicks to get my own set of golf clubs. I found a set I really like and they were on sale for real!!!! They are usually $350 and I got them for $170. Not too bad. A bit more than I wanted to spend but a good deal in the golfing world.

This morning I had the wonderful task of cleaning my room, hanging up all my new clothes, organizing my closet so that my clubs would fit, and getting everything ready for school...or semi-ready.

I went to the license branch this afternoon to renew my tags and yeah - it was a rip off! And i went swimming with two 2 year olds and two 1 year olds! It was fun!

Car Maintence Sucks!

Yesterday I went to Kohl's 8am -10pm sale. I'd never been to their ealy sale but I will have to say it was worth it. It actually wasn't busy and I got some really good deals! I got a pair of New Balance tennis shoes for $35 (normally $60), a water bottle thing for $4 (I almost bought one at Dick's for $12), I also got three shirts for $12-20 each and I got 2 baby outfits for Matthew for $4! It was actually a really good sale!

I also took my car to get an oil change and new wiper blades at Penzoil and Mr. Davis hooked me up, lol. Then I went to get tires on my car (that was a little pricey, lol). While there they told me I needed brakes on my car so I did that today. Goodness, Brakeway's $99 brake job is a joke. It cost me $200!

Salons and Tires

Well I found a new salon this past week...I forgot to blog about it earlier. I went to Scorpio Salon & Spa on Charlestown Road. I really enjoyed it! It was really nice! I thought overall it was a little expensive but the place was really nice.

I need to get some tires on my car! I have about 3 weeks left of summer vacation left and I need to do some car maintance before I go back. I'm trying to decide between Sears, Pep Boys, or Ken Towry. I'm open to suggestions!

Cave City!

I'm back from Cave City, KY...our little mini vaca. It was actually lots of fun! We left early on Saturday morning got to Mammoth Cave and most of the tours were sold out already! But we went on the New Entrance tour. It was fun and cool...which was awesome since it was really hot! After that we checked in at the hotel, got cleaned up, ate lunch/dinner then went to the Action Park. The alpine slide's chair lift was broke so we didn't get to do that. So we went and paid for our horse rides! Checked in at the stables and then Brion became a chicken and didn't do it! But I still rode! Bill was my horse and he was fun! After that we went to find a store and had to settle for Family Dollar, lol, and then we got ice cream at Dairy Queen. Then we realized everything there closes at like 7 so we went to the hotel and got in the pool. Then we watched tv, lol, we're exciting I know!

Sunday we woke up and had this great idea to go eat at a diner and then go to Kentucky Down Under. It was acutally a lot of fun and I even got to pet a Kangaroo! I loved it!

All in all it was a fun trip...but I wish Brion would have rode a horse with me. I don't know though. Anywho, I had fun!

Pics are on Facebook!

Vaca Plans!!!!!!

Wow! I've really been wanting to go on vacation somewhere and somehow this summer but it hasn't really been working out. People have other plans or plan on going on vacation later on. Brion just started a new job about 3 months ago and he can't get off due to the big buyout. But I really wanna go somewhere! Lol...what's the point of being off for the whole summer without going anywhere!

Well, my wonderful boyfriend has arranged (with very little assistance) a mini vaca! OMG and I getta go somewhere I've always wanted to go!!!!!! You'll never guess...so I'll just tell you...we're going to...KENTUCKY! Lol, So it's no dream vaca but it'll be a fun weekend. We're going to leave early on Saturday morning and come home on Sunday. We're going down to Cave City, KY. We plan to attend Mammoth Cave for a tour and some hiking and the Kentucky Adventure Park. The KY Adventure Park has an alpine slide, bumber boats, go karts, putt-putt, horseback riding, etc. That place should be fun. And if all else fails and it sucks Kentucky Down Under is nearby and so is Gun Town Mountain and Beech Bend. Plus Mammoth Cave has like 10 tours so I'm sure we'll find things to do. And it's only 2 days lol. And we'll have to be home on Sunday afternoon since Brion has to be back to work on Monday and will have to go to the store and such. Me...not so much as far as plans.

I also got my schedule for the school year:
Period Class
1 Chemistry 1
2 Chemistry 1 Honors
3 Chemistry 1
4 Chemistry 2
5 Chemistry 1
6 Planning
7 Chemistry 1 Honors

Monday, July 14, 2008

This weekend wasn't too exciting, lol. Friday Brion and I went to Sportstime (my favorite pizza place) and it was good! We also went grocery shopping for the week at Walmart, which we usually do on Sunday but that's ok!

Saturday we went to a cookout at B's bosses house. It was ok. I didn't really want to go but overall it wasn't too bad. I especially enjoyed their kids and the banana ice cream! Only problem is now I have 8 mosquito bites that itch! After the cookout we went back to his house and watched Legally Blonde. Hmmm....payback for having to watch Star Trek.

Sunday we went on the search for a new watch for me. I'm the pickiest person when it comes to a lot of things like food, purses, clothes, and watches. So we went to Mall St. Matthews and I searched and searched and searched. I eventually went to Dillards as a last resort and ended up buying two watches.

Overall it was an okay weekend...I've had better, lol.

Mundane Monday

I'm so ready to go back to work!!!!! Goodness. Today wasn't too bad, I managed to stay busy.

I babysat matthew (the meanest but cutest baby in the world) while Misty went to sell some gold, lol. I also worked on some chemistry stuff. I made a diagnostic test to give in Chemistry 2 to see what the kids remember. I uploaded some music to iTunes and then I watched 3 episodes of John and Kate plus 8 on Demand (so there's no commercials and each episode is 23 minutes). I watched the shows when Matthew finally fell asleep!

Weekend Fun!

Friday was the 4th of July...national holiday - not really a celebrated one to me though. Brion and I went out for dinner at Pizza Hut and hung out for a while until we decided to go watch the fireworks on the river. We looked it up online and thought it started at 10. We got there at 9:45 and left at 10:50 without seeing any fireworks! When we left we went to Dairy Queen for drinks/blizzards and at 11 we finally got to see the fireworks from the drive through at Dairy Queen, lol.

Saturday we started our travels to Holiday World!!!!! We had a great ride playing slug bug and bruiser cruiser! We got there...and no offense Brion, but he's not too much fun at amusement parks. He has to watch each ride a few times before deciding to ride or not. In the end we ended up riding the scrambler, the Raven, and Paul Revere's Midnight Ride. That's it in the park. In Splashing Safari we got to ride Bakuli and Zoombabwe. We also played in the wave pool and lazy river. I dunno. I mean I understand that he doesn't usually do much at amusement parks but I usually do everything so it was kind of a dissapointment to me. I've always gone as a kids and loved it and it was the worst trip there ever! However after a drive home of not talking for an hour and a half, I had some time to cool off (and shower to get all the chlorine off) and we went to dinner at Our Best (btw - not so good). We're going to try again in the fall, when it's not hot, and no water park. I'm going to make sure he eats breakfast and such and we're just going to have a good time. My goal is for him to ride more than 3 things!

Today Lynn came over! It was fun but too short...plus I think Midnight was more excited to see her than anyone, lol! He kinda took centerstage. Oh well! It was nice to hang out for a little bit again!

Then Brion and I went to lunch at BW's and decided to go see Get Smart. It was a really good movie! Way better than I expected! We then embarked on our weekly journey to Walmart and then I came home. But it was a really good day!

Feelings....

Goodness, I'm starting to feel better now...I just want my nose/throat to heal. Once that is done I'll think I'll be ok...good thing is since I'm feeling better I don't have to go back to immediate care tomorrow, or at least so far I don't!

Found out a good thing this morning...Midnight doesn't have cancer!!!! He does have arthritis and may have cushings disease but for now he's ok...just needs so medicine, some walks, and some pet stairs! Only bad thing is I have to teach him how to use those stairs! Pray for me to have patience.

I've been babysittting my mean little nephew a lot recently. Lol...he's adorable, precious and mean! He's so spoiled rotten and he knows it at 6 weeks old. He doesn't want to sleep in his crib or playpen but wants to be near someone...so he's currently on the couch next to me snoring. I didn't know babies could snore!

I get to go to Holiday World on saturday if the weather cooperates! I'm just hoping that the trip is fun and Brion just rides the stupid rides! I dunno...there's always force I guess!

Allergies?

Well, I just kept feeling worse and worse so I made a doctor's appointment. They only had an opening at 4:30, which sucked, but at around 11:30 I decided just to go to immediate care. After waiting and wating I finally got to see the doctor. She was so incredibly nice and sweet! I wish she could be my regular doctor! Anywho...I don't have allergies. Which explains why my Clariten didn't work so well, lol. Instead I have an upper respirtory infection and I also have fluid build up in my ears and chest. So I have two new perscriptions to take. If I don't start to feel better by Friday I have to go back to the dr and if I'm not completely healed by this time next week (or pretty darn close) I have to go back. Reason is that if I don't get healed my upper resp infection can turn into pnemonia (sp?) which I don't want.

I hope the meds work!

Brion was such a sweetie and called to cancel my doctor appt for me (I hate doing those things)!

Just My Luck

Last Saturday I was supposed to go to Edinburg with my family and Brion and spend the enitre day up there. I was soooo incredibly excited! But as usual whenever I get excited something happens. On the way up Brion's car started blowing out white smoke...which I guess isn't good, lol. So we turned around so he could take his car to my house and I would drive us up in my car....well he decided to stop of at Jim O'Neal Ford to look into a new car...like 2 hours later he drove off in a 2007 PT Cruiser. Needless to say I was a little upset...but I got over it. I know he needed a new car to drive to work but still...we were suppposed to be hanging out with my family - something we've been waiting for, for a year and a half now!

Then this Saturday we were supposed to go to Holiday World...did we go? NO!!!! Instead Brion cut his grass and sprayed his weeds with weed killer. Lol. Exciting day I know! However, there was a 60% chance of rain so I understand, yet again. So I thought, hey lets just go on Sunday! But my allergies decided to kick in and I felt miserable so that didn't happen either. Instead we watched the Bucket List.

I did get to go see WallE on Friday!!!! It was pretty cute...but you gotta love the undertone sorta subliminal messages about Walmart and pollution in the movie!

Later Days!

Awaiting...me!

First and foremost I need to thank Lynn for this awesome and amazing blog layout!!!!! You're so awesome! I owe you an ice cream!

Well, I just got home today from Ball State University. I traveled up there to attend a workshop at the Indiana Academy so that I can teach AP Chemistry. Goodness gracioius this past week was the hardest week of my life I think! The chemistry we did was very, very difficult! I felt so stupid! Our professor gave us homework every night that lasted for hours upon hours for like 2 problems! However we eventually did titrations and I rock with titrations! Lol.

All in all it was a good trip. I'm glad I went and more importantly I'm glad it's over!

Later Days!
